Marcelline Agius

Musical past and present in one brief sentence:

I gradually advanced from rank and file violinist at age 17 to leader of what is now the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.


How were you introduced to your instrument?
I was introduced to the violin by my uncle Joseph Galea who used to be sub principal of the Manoel Theatre Orchestra.

 

Who are some of your favourite composers, musicians and bands from the past and present?
Composers - Puccini, Brahms, Tchaikovsky.  Musician – Izhak Perlman.


Is there a particular song or musical passage that never fails to move you emotionally?
Finale of the opera La Boheme.


What has been your most memorable musical experience?
Playing with the World Philharmonic Orchestra

What’s a typical day like for you?
Going to work, going to visit my mother, taking the dogs out for a run and studying


How would you describe your perfect day?
Cooking, staying with the dogs and watching a good movie

What would your friends say they appreciate the most about you?
That I'm a kind person 


What is your most valued material possession?

My violin
